NextGen Healthcare “Future State” Video

The future of healthcare is ever-changing and fast-approaching. Technologies, tools, data—all are elements in the flux of progress. It's the promise of this dynamic “future state” that NextGen Healthcare wanted to capture and convey in video. Spurred by a premier at their annual User Group Meeting, NextGen turned to long-time creative partner, Binary Pulse Studios, to bring their updated product vision to life.

Location shooting for healthcare can be complex if not impossible. Scheduling, patient privacy, and hospital safety are always considerations. To capture the breadth of NextGen’s vision across multiple specialties and scenarios, rather than travel to multiple locations, we brought all the locations to us. We then put those locations on the big screen—specifically an enormous 65’x15’ LED wall—uniquely blending live talent capture in front of custom, 3D-rendered backgrounds.

Liberated from the physical restrictions of location shooting, we were free to tell a story equal to NextGen’s ambitions—depicting four, interwoven, specialty-centric storylines in a bold and spectacular format. Through purposeful art direction, 3D modeling, set design, and pre-vis—in addition to integrated casting and wardrobe—we consolidated what could’ve easily been a multi-week production window into a two-day shoot. With environments and most effects shot practically, post-production effort was minimized dramatically and the pitfalls of green screen completely eliminated.

Development of the NextGen Future State video is a study in the union of enabling technique and workflow efficiency that gave us, quite literally, control over space and time.
